Barnyard Bash! Farm Party Ideas for a Moo-velous Child's Birthday Party

Want to celebrate a special day down on the farm? Start with an E-I-E-I-Oh-so-cute invite from paperlicious.com Always farm-friendly made from 100% recycled fiber papers. Try the frogs, ladybugs, sheep, or be bold with this hip cowhide design.


Welcome guests to your family farm by transforming your door into a barn door with cardboard. All you need is a large piece of cardboard, red paint or paper, and white paint or white duct tape to create the "X" outline on the door.

Play Barnyard Hide and Seek. Only the animals are hiding and the children have to round them back up and herd them into the barn. You can turn any carboard box into a barn by covering with red paper or painting it red. Tear off the shorter 2 flaps and use the longer 2 as the barn doors. It can be as simple or elaborate as you want. Have stuffed animal cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, dogs, ducks, horses, etc. If you don't have or want a lot of stuffed animals lying around, you could pick up some plastic or wooden farm animals at any toy store.

For a thoughtful favor, gather some small farm animal themed childrens books like "Moo, Baa, La, La, La," by Sandra Boynton or "Big Red Barn" by Margaret Wise Brown. For older children try the Doreen Cronin series "Click, Clack Moo, Cows that Type." Have one book for each guest tied up in colorful bandanas and hanging from a low tree branch where guests can "pick" their prize as the party ends.
